DAVID CARROLL & FRIENDS at TVT, Tennessee Valley Theatre in Spring City will present David Carroll & Friends on Saturday, July 13, at 7:30 PM. Admission is free.
From the 1920s, to Radio Hall of Fame legend Luther Masingill’s unprecedented career, to the earliest days of local TV, the big names who have come and gone, and the wonders of today’s technology, David takes the audience on a funfilled trip through the history of local broadcasting with his book Chattanooga Radio and Television. See the faces behind the radio voices, your favorite TV personalities then and now, see and hear highlights from David’s amazing radio and TV archives (some dating back to 1940), and enjoy hilarious video local news bloopers never before shown in public.
Audience members also have a chance to win prizes. “Bob Barker was one of my TV heroes when I was a kid. He got paid to give away prizes and have women come up and hug him! I thought that was a cool job,” David grins. “Who wants to be a Spring City millionaire? We just might find out, as long as they’re willing to settle for a few bucks less!”
Other local authors Bill Thedford, Roxie Gibson, Ken Emel and Rich Everitt
will participate in the program.
